Penny Hearn, Dip.M, ACIM

Penny is director and co-founder of Demys Limited. She studied Business Studies at The London Guildhall University and her professional background is in product marketing. Throughout the last twenty years, she has been involved in brand development, marketing communications and, as a director of an IT marketing consultancy, client care, project management and project delivery. Clients benefit from her conviction that domain names are representative of brands on-line such that Demys focus not solely on the technical and policy aspects of the Internet but on the broader canvas such as the protection of intellectual property and the prevention of brand abuse; all within a framework of economy and prudence.

Further, Penny concentrates on aspects of a domain name portfolio from the user's perspective and facilitates regular research to ensure that clients are kept abreast of developments in this area.

Andrew Lothian LLB, DipLP, NP

Andrew is Chief Executive and co-founder of Demys Limited. Andrew has twenty years of experience in legal practice both in litigation and intellectual property. He has been involved in Internet domain name matters for more than a decade and personally handled the first Scottish domain dispute before the Commercial Court of the Court of Session together with the world's 6th largest domain name acquisition by value (IF.com).

Andrew has been a serving Expert on Nominet's (UK Internet Naming Authority) Dispute Resolution Service Panel since its inception in 2001 - one of only two based in Scotland. Andrew is also the sole Scottish-based member of the World Intellectual Property Organization's Domain Name Panel and serves on the Czech Arbitration Court's .eu ADR Panel. In these capacities he adjudicates in national, European and international domain name disputes.

Andrew has spoken internationally on e- Business and domain name issues since 1998. He maintains a range of contacts at the top level of the Domain Name System including UK government policy formers, Nominet UK personnel, WIPO panellists and ICANN staff.

Tim Brown LLB

Tim has specialised in domain names since 1996 when he completed his dissertation on the interaction between trade marks and domains as part of his IT-focused law degree at Southampton University. As Operations Director he has advised a wide range of clients on worldwide registration issues and opportunities, and he supports Andrew in the delivery of Demys' responsive suite of services. In addition to his understanding of registration regimes and the domain name system, Tim has worked as both an IT consultant and a web developer, completing his all-round understanding of the technical and practical components of Internet domain names.
